Integrating Your Pandemic Pivot with your Pre-Pandemic Career
By Brian Sedita
Over the last year, many members of the theatre community have had to pivot due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even with the abundant free time, we have never stopped creating.
When the pandemic struck, my co-creator and co-host of Page to Stage Podcast, Mary Dina, and I questioned how we could still produce episodes of our process-focused podcast at a time where so many were not able to practice their craft.
As we recorded more and more episodes from home, we realized that there was a common thread in our guests’ goals and ambitions as we moved further from the onset of theatre closings in March 2020: Pivoting
Pivoting is now a part of the process.
Over a year later, and with the reopening of theatres on the horizon, the term pivot doesn’t seem to be going anywhere as theatre professionals now look to integrate their pandemic pivot with their pre-pandemic career.
When 10glo caught our attention at Page to Stage Podcast, Mary and I were fascinated and thrilled to be able to speak with founder, Daniel Kuney. In our latest episode, due out on March 29th, we chat with Daniel, who also founded KGM Theatrical, a General Management firm for Broadway and off-Broadway productions, and the impetus behind creating 10glo. Although 10glo may not be considered a full pivot for Kuney, he discusses his goals for the platform and how he hopes it can integrate with his ongoing work at KGM and bringing Broadway back after the shutdown.
Brian Sedita grew up in northern New Jersey and graduated from Montclair State University with a BFA in Acting. Brian is a co-host/co-creator of the podcast, Page To Stage: A Conversation with Theatre Makers and a co-founder of Broadway by the Glass. As a theatre artist, Brian hopes to show the world from someone else’s perspective – to engage with audiences by opening their eyes and hearts to another person’s emotions, thoughts, or way of life.
