Introducing Tiana Jung & Jason Sakaki!

Congrats on winning the duet division of our Measure in Love: Broadway Celebrates Valentine’s Day contest! What was your reaction when you got the email telling you that you won?

Tiana: Honestly I laughed because I thought the winners had already been chosen and the results just hadn’t been posted yet!

Jason: So exciting! I was at work and my coworkers and I did a little happy dance when I told them.

What made you two decide to enter this contest together, instead of just doing a solo entry each?

Tiana: I was browsing the Broadway Records website and saw Allegiance…I love that musical but I don’t find any of the solos particularly romantic.  Then I remembered that Jason also loves this musical and thought I’d ask if he had time to do a duet with me.  We used to film duet covers all the time in high school so we figured this one would be another one to add to our repertoire!

Jason: (Agrees with Tiana)

Who are you inspired by?

Tiana: Lea Salonga, Eva Noblezada, Lauren Yee, Philippa Soo, Ashley Park, Telly Leung, Dove Cameron, Gemma Chan, Chadwick Boseman, the list goes on and on.

Jason: Brooks Ashmanskas, Andrew Rannells, Telly Leung, Alison Luff.

Which of the judges is your celebrity crush?

Tiana: Telly of course!!!

Jason: Seconded.

Anything else you’d like to shout out?

Tiana: Yes two things.  1. Shoutout to our accompanist Stephen Mellen and 2. Black Lives Matter and rise up against AAPI hate!

Jason: Thanks to our accompanist and thanks 10glo for supporting us!!

Rapid Fire:

Favorite Food?

Tiana: Any kind of noodle soup like pho or udon.

Jason: Love a tonkatsu.

Personal Motto?

Tiana: That everything happens for a reason.  Cliché but true.

Jason: Trust your journey and BE KIND.

What do you consider to be your best asset?

Tiana: My voice and my energy.  If you mean physically I guess I could say I have long legs haha.

Jason: Fearlessness. If I see something I want to do, I do it.

What would have to happen to make today the best day of your life?

Tiana: If I booked a lead role in a Marvel film or as the voice of a Disney princess.  🙂

Jason: Theatre reopening announcement!!! I miss seeing and performing in theatre so much, and I can’t wait till we can finally all be in a space together SAFELY.
