Bio
Gabriella Rose Balsam is a playwright, bookwriter, and lyricist, with additional experience in writing fiction and ad copy. In the theater, she has worked with WP Theater, Eisenberg/Beans Casting, Theatre Exile, and the Academy of Vocal Arts. Her copywriting has also appeared on behalf of the Fox School of Business-Graduate Admissions (Temple University). She received a Bachelor's Degree in Advertising-Copywriting Concentration with a Certificate (Minor) in Writing from Temple University. She will receive a Masters in Fine Arts from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in Musical Theatre Writing (Wordsperson) in 2020. Additionally, she has studied at PlayPenn, is currently part of StateraArts New York’s second mentorship class, and is a proud member of the Dramatists’ Guild. Her co-written musicals (book & lyrics) include La Voisin (with Brandy Hoang Collier & Deniz Demirkurt) and The Lily House (with Simon Lee). Her plays include Free, You Never Said Anything, and What Am I, (or, The Lost Souls of Philip Island), excerpts of which are available online on the New Play Exchange. A persistent, ambitious, and driven self-starter, she's interested in storytelling, through emotionally and mentally charged writing. Perhaps most importantly, she’s a Julia Houston wannabe, Gritty fangirl, & witchy jawn. She can be reached at grb332@nyu.edu or www.linkedin/in/gabriellarosebalsam.
